Christmas at the Frank Phillips Home
Each year the Frank Phillips Historic Home is decorated for Christmas so visitors can see the restored house dressed in all of its holiday pageantry. The Frank Phillips home is a site to behold at any time of the year, but especially at Christmas. The 1909 Neo-Classical home belonged to local Phillips 66 oil legend Frank Phillips and his wife, Jane. Their granddaughter, Elizabeth Irwin, inherited the home and kept it well-preserved for 25 years. In 1973 Irwin donated the home and its contents to the state of Oklahoma, and since 2018 the mansion has been cared for by the Frank Phillips Foundation. Here are some photos of the Frank…

Bison Spotting at the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve
Located in Osage County, Oklahoma, about 35 miles west-northwest of Bartlesville and just north of Pawhuska is the largest protected area of tallgrass prairie in the world, the Joseph H. Williams Tallgrass Prairie Preserve. The Great Plains preserve was established in 1989 and managed by The Nature Conservancy. Visitors can enjoy watching bison roam freely over 23,000 of the 39,650 acres of land designated for the nature preserve, as well as spot 300 bird species, over 700 plants, and 80 mammals. Step into the 1950s at Boomerang Diner
Serving Oklahomans since 1998, Boomerang Diner offers all-American food in a fun, nostalgia-filled atmosphere, and the Bartlesville location is no exception. When my daughter and I walked into the Boomerang Diner in Bartlesville this week, it felt like stepping into another time. From the checkered floors to the seafoam green gallery walls to the shiny red furniture, every corner of the restaurant was decorated to the hilt and gave bright and cheery 1950s vibes. The wait staff were also bright and cheery, kept our drinks full, and made sure we wanted for nothing.
